My 2008 began with one of the worst hangovers ever known to woman. I had expected yesterday morning to be equally epic. It didn't happen, and let me tell you why.
This blog was born last May after breaking off a short relationship. I was needing something to do to with my rediscovered free time and I prepared myself for frequent debaucherous evenings at the bar and mornings of pain and regret and fun. I fucking ruled at being a single drunk - I had some good stories in my early 20s, and figured there would be more that I could write up on the internet to ensure never, ever having to work in politics.
Then I realized I was way crazy for my best dude friend who could always find bar time for me. Then we made out (and way more, hubba hubba!) And we drank. And I wrote about some of it.
Most of the time booze makes us exceptionally rad and charming and goodlooking. Other times it makes us sloppy assholes. As 2008 winded to a sharp close, we realized that we shouldn't ever be assholes. We're cleaning up our acts.
This blog will be, at least temporarily, more about the hangover from the hangovers. I'm not going away, but the constant bitching about red wine headaches will take a backseat to...fuck, I DON'T KNOW.
Really, what the fuck are we going to do? On New Year's Eve we stayed in and watched a movie. I could barely believe yesterday was the first of the year because I could open my eyes all the way and had zero interest in stabbing anybody. It was...nice? Yeah, pretty weird, too. I guess puzzles are fun...and books...tv...um, drinking juice?
I know that if you have been a drinker - I mean a serious fuckin' drinker - at some point you've felt a bit of regret or disappointment and thought about stopping, and maybe you even have. Now it's my turn. In order to keep my 6 or so readers, I'll write about the hangover hangover until I'm good and ready to get shitcanned again. And I bet my hangovers will be terrible and hilarious then, so please be patient. And wish me luck.
Lucidly yours,
Joneser
Good luck! Sophie is reportedly taking a break upon her return from Mexico as well. I can't wait to dink juice and Pellegrino with you ladies.
